We are a collective rooted in the activist work done over the past few years. We are claiming our rights to this regional park as haven for our communities. Activists from different backgrounds, we are outraged by the use of repression and the destruction of the facilities at the access to this park, which primarily target the 2SLGBTQ+ communities of the Laurentians and Greater Montreal, who have frequented this space for decades.
We are disconcerted by the management of the natural heritage of the region, of which the Parc des Chutes is just one example among many.
We are disgusted by the absence of reconciliation work with the first peoples. We are also calling for decolonial work by local and regional authorities.
We also want to be able to come together as a community for an ecological park, centering the communities that historically frequent and guard this territory, including the 2SLGBTQ+ communities and the First Nations.
We invite anyone interested in participating in this endeavor to contact us and come to one of our meetings.
